Measuring up
Welcome to our Measuring up guide… This important guide will help you to measure correctly and accurately for any made-to-measure products so as to ensure a correct fit. Please follow it carefully as we cannot accept returns for made-to-measure products other than for reasons set out in our returns policy. Each made-to-measure product will be listed here alphabetically, with appropriate guidance under each product heading.Remember: all measurements should be given in inches to the nearest quarter inch. Important: In order to achieve accuracy, you will require the assistance of someone else for many of the necessary measurements. Also be sure to empty your pockets and take off bulky items of clothing before measuring as these may affect measurements! Note: When you order made-to-measure products from us we will email you to confirm the sizes you have provided us with. Finally: We love to hear from you and value your input...If anything seems unclear or you would like to see more information or have any suggestions in general about any part of this site please email your feedback to feedback@tunrbullshop.com Two measurements are required for our Gents Trousers, waist and length:| Waist: | Measure around the body just above the hips but below the belly button using an appropriate measuring tape. Pull the tape tight, whilst allowing enough slack to place two fingers between the tape and the body. Remember when measuring, that trousers can always be tightened by a belt if needed and that after eating your waist will expand. | | Length: | The length of our Gents Trousers is determined by your inside leg measurement. This is the measurement from your crotch to your ankle. Measure this length while standing tall insuring your leg is straight and not bent at the knee.Remember when you sit down your trousers will ride slightly up your legs. If you want to minimise the effect of this, add the appropriate amount of extra length to your inside leg measurement. Trousers can always be taken up - they can never be made longer!Note; we advise that you order your trousers unfinished and have them taken up locally to ensure a correct fit. If you wish to do this, put the number 0 in the length box. |
Note; our trousers are not Trews. Thus they do not sit high around the belly button, but rather around the waist like normal trousers. Still not quite sure??... Three measurements are required for our Hostess Skirt, waist, hip and length.| Waist: | Measure around the body just above the belly button using an appropriate measuring tape. Pull the tape tight, whilst allowing enough slack to place two fingers between the tape and the body. Remember when measuring, that our Hostess Skirt has three buckles, two to the left and one to the right, allowing a maximum of two and a half inches adjustment. | | Hip | Measure around the top of your legs and widest part of your bum. Pull the tape tight, whilst allowing enough slack to place two fingers between the tape and the body and so as to allow the tape to rotate around the body. | | Length | The proper length of a Hostess Skirt is from waist to ankle. To obtain this measurement, measure from the waist line to the ankle. The standard length for a Hostess Skirt is 37 inches.Note; the maximum length for a Kilted Skirt is 33 inches. |

Three measurements are required for our Kilts, waist, hip and length. | Waist: | Measure around the body over the top of the belly button using an appropriate measuring tape. Pull the tape tight, whilst allowing enough slack to place two fingers between the tape and the body. Note The waist measurement for a kilt is different to that for trousers as a kilt sits over the belly button when worn as opposed to trousers which sit below, in the normal position. Remember when measuring, that our 8 Yard Luxury Kilts have three buckles, one to the left and two to the right, and that our Casual Kilts have two buckles, one each to the right and the left, allowing a maximum of four inches adjustment. | | Hip | Measure around the top of your legs and widest part of your bum. Pull the tape tight, whilst allowing enough slack to place two fingers between the tape and the body and so as to allow the tape to rotate around the body. | | Length | The proper length of a Kilt is from the belly button to the middle of the knee. This measurement is crucial for your kilt to sit properly!! Take time to get an accurate measurement. When being measured, stand straight and look ahead with your legs shoulder width apart (if you look down at the person doing the measuring there is a tendency to bend the knees giving a false measurement). To check this measurement, have the person being measured kneel down straight on the ground. The length from their belly button to the ground should be equal to your measurement plus one inch. |
